Remembering Ms. Iris L. "Fatty Marsha" Lynch

(1969-2009)

In loving memory of Ms. Iris L. "Fatty Marsha" Lynch, we honor a remarkable woman whose life serves as a testament to resilience, honesty, and compassion. Affectionately known as "Fatty Marsha," Iris was a beacon of light within her community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born into a world filled with challenges, Iris defied stereotypes and embraced life with unwavering grace and integrity. Despite facing adversity, she never succumbed to the temptations of heavy drugs nor indulged in promiscuous behavior. Instead, Iris lived her life with honesty, dignity, and a deep commitment to her values.

Iris's journey took a fateful turn when she married a military spouse, a decision that would unknowingly lead to her battle with HIV. Yet, even in the face of this unforeseen hardship, Iris remained steadfast in her resolve, confronting the virus with courage and resilience.

Tragically, Ms. Iris L. "Fatty Marsha" Lynch passed away in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and advocacy. In her memory, her sister, Bridget Renee Lynch, founded The Fatty Marsha Foundation to honor Iris's life and continue her mission of raising awareness and breaking the stereotypes surrounding HIV/AIDS.

In her memory, we continue the legacy of Fatty Marsha, striving to create a world where individuals are not defined by their status, but by their strength, their humanity, and their capacity for love and compassion. Though she may no longer walk among us, Iris's spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her kindness, her wisdom, and her unwavering spirit.
